1.
Do ask/answer questions, share your
homeschooling experiences (positive and negative), offer suggestions, be
supportive of “all” in a positive and loving way, discuss WA laws pertaining to
homeschooling, talk/buy/sell/swap curriculum, etc.
2.
Remember that emotions are hard to
read in cyberspace, so word your comments carefully and assume the best of
others.
3.
Be patient, loving and understanding
with each other, allowing for different approaches to the task of educating our
children. While we must all obey the homeschooling
law, there is no “right” or “wrong” approach to homeschooling. Always ask, “How would Jesus respond?”
Because we are all passionate about homeschooling, conversations can quickly
and unintentionally become too intense.
If this happens the moderators reserve the right to step in and stop the
conversation. This allows for a
cooling off period.
4.
TCHSG does not advocate “for or
against” public school Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) programs (e.g. Parent Partnership Programs,
Mid-Columbia Parent Partnership (MCP), Washington Virtual Academies (WAVA),
Columbia Virtual Academy (CVA), Three Rivers Homelink, etc.). We understand
that people can participate in these programs part-time and retain their
homeschooling status (see links on http://www.tricitieshomeschool.blogspot.com
for more information about the law).
We realize that people have questions, which is natural. We also realize that in natural
conversation a discussion can move from a seeking clarification tone to an
encouraging or advertising tone.
At this time the conversation should move off the forum to private
email. Since this issue has been
divisive in the past, we reserve the right to stop the conversation.
5.
If you advertise an event where the
sponsor/most attendees are of a significantly different faith tradition than
our statement of faith, please disclose that information when you advertise so
that potential attendees can make an informed decision. If you do not, the
coordinating team reserves the right to notify the list publicly. If you advertise such events regularly,
the TCHSG Coordinating Team reserves the right to rescind membership. HECMC is
a more appropriate venue for advertising events that encompass multiple faith
traditions.
6.
No vulgar or inflammatory comments
or any other inappropriate posts are allowed.
7.
Upon first violation of this code of conduct,
the individual will be sent a warning via email with an explanation, and the
post/thread will be deleted. Upon a second violation, the individual’s
account will be deleted, and the moderators will notify the individual via
email. TCHSG moderators reserve the right to remove individuals and/or
messages from the forum whose intent is not compatible with our stated purpose,
or for any other reason deemed appropriate.
Thank you for making the TCHSG forum
a supportive and informative tool for homeschoolers.
